Understanding IN10 Car Insurance

An IN10 conviction is issued when a driver is caught using a vehicle without valid insurance. This is a serious offence that results in six to eight penalty points on your licence and a fine. The conviction remains on your driving record for four years from the date of the offence, making it harder to find affordable insurance.

At Got You Covered, we work with specialist insurers who understand your circumstances and can provide fair and legal insurance solutions.

Why Does IN10 Car Insurance Cost More?

Drivers with an IN10 conviction often face higher premiums due to several risk factors:

Increased Likelihood of Claims – Statistically, uninsured drivers are more likely to be involved in accidents or claims.

Legal Consequences – Driving without insurance is considered a serious offence, making insurers cautious about providing coverage.

Limited Insurer Pool – Fewer insurers are willing to offer policies for IN10 convictions, which leads to higher prices.

At Got You Covered, we compare specialist insurers to help you secure the most competitive rates available.

Why You May Need IN10 Car Insurance

Due to the increased risk, many insurers refuse to cover drivers with an IN10 conviction. Here’s why you need a specialist policy:

Legal Requirement

It is illegal to drive without insurance. After an IN10 conviction, securing a valid policy is essential to comply with the law.

Higher Risk Perception

Standard insurers often view IN10 drivers as high-risk, making it difficult to find affordable coverage without a specialist provider.

Limited Insurance Options

Many mainstream insurers will not offer cover to drivers with an IN10 conviction, reducing your choices. We work with specialist providers to find you the best options available.

Helping You Rebuild Your Record

Getting insured with a specialist policy allows you to legally drive while rebuilding your driving history, helping to lower future insurance costs.

Frequently asked questions.

How long does an IN10 conviction stay on my licence?

An IN10 conviction remains on your driving record for four years from the date of the offence. You may still have to disclose any driving conviction to insurers for five years. During this time, insurers will consider it when calculating your premium. After four years, it will no longer affect your insurance costs.

Can I get car insurance while banned from driving?

black question mark icon

Will my insurance cost decrease over time?

Yes, if you avoid further convictions and maintain a clean driving record, your insurance premiums should gradually reduce over time.

Do all insurers cover drivers with an IN10 conviction?
